When I launched [Historic Leadville](https://historicleadville.com/?ref=historicleadville.com) on [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/historicleadville/?ref=historicleadville.com) and [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61580855571170) last year, I didn't really have a plan. I was researching Leadville history and finding so many interesting photographs, maps and stories that I felt the need to share them with others who might appreciate them as I did.

Now, after more than a year of posting, I have a much better idea of what I want Historic Leadville to become.

I don't want Historic Leadville to be just another Leadville social media account. I want to dig deeper into the history of the city. I want to explore the stories behind the photographs and documents, and contribute to a better understanding of the town I was born in. I also want to provide access to primary documents for researchers and other Leadville enthusiasts.

Social media is a great place to share discoveries and spark conversations, but it's not always the best place to tell the bigger stories or explore a subject in depth.

Making that happen means building a better home for the project and its community beyond social media. That's why I've given **HistoricLeadville.com** a complete overhaul. The new site looks better, runs more smoothly, and, more importantly, provides the foundation for something bigger.

So, what's next?

In the coming year, you'll find longer articles exploring people, places and events that shaped Leadville. I've also revamped the [Leadville bibliography](https://www.historicleadville.com/bibliography/), making it easier to discover books, publications and other resources about Leadville and its history. This will be an ongoing project as I continually add material I come across.

I've built an archive for the primary sources, like the Leadville historic city meetings I helped digitize this summer. I will be expanding this in 2027 by adding a library of documents, books and other publications.

And in January, I'll be launching a monthly newsletter that builds on what I've been sharing on social media. Expect longer stories, exclusive discoveries, interesting historical finds and a monthly recap of new material.

My goal is to make Historic Leadville a place where people can discover, explore and learn more about the town's remarkable history. There's still a lot of digging to do, and I'm looking forward to seeing where it leads.
